Latino depictions:
Pros: Salma Hayek plays a menopausal badass. Menopause is often not a topic handled in mainstream movies. Hayek also shows she’s part of a growing number of female action stars in Hollywood — of which there are too few over 50 years old.
Cons: Both Banderas and Hayek play criminals, which is a common Latino stereotype in films. And, Hayek falls into the “feisty” latina role.
